I. Application for Undergraduates and Postgraduates Programs

A. Matriculation terms for non-Chinese-major undergraduate

(1) in the age bracket of 18-50 with good health

(2) holding senior high school graduation diploma at least

(3) holding certificate of HSK Level 6 or above

(4) passing the major test and oral Chinese interview held by the applied department

(5) documents submission: Beijing International Studies University Application Form, resume, certificate of HSK Level 6 or above, the latest diploma, academic record, photocopy of passport or residence permit, two pictures

(6) application deadline: May 31

B. Matriculation terms for Chinese-Language undergraduate

(1) in the age bracket of 18-50 with good health

(2) holding senior high school graduation diploma or above (presentation of the latest diploma and academic record is required)

(3) holding certificate of HSK Level 3 or above

(4) documents submission: Beijing International Studies University Application Form, resume, certificate of HSK Level 3 or above, the latest diploma, academic record, photocopy of passport or residence permit, two pictures

(5) application deadline: June 30

C. Matriculation terms for non-Chinese-Language postgraduate

(1) under the age of 50 with good health, holding undergraduate diploma

(2) documents submission: resume, Beijing International Studies University Application Form, degree certificate and diploma (presentation of the original documents is required upon registration), university script of academic record, certificate of HSK Level 7 or above, two reference letters, photocopy of passport or residence permit, two pictures

(3) application deadline: May 31

D. Application for Chinese Language learner Program

(1) under the age of 60 with good health, holding senior high school graduation diploma at least

(2) documents submission: resume, Beijing International Studies University Application Form, photocopy of the diploma (the original document is required to be submitted upon registration and for currently enrolled senior high school students, the enrollment certificate from the school is required), photocopy of passport or residence permit, two pictures

(3) application deadline: December 31 (spring semester); June 30 (autumn semester)

E. Application for Refresher and Advanced Refresher Program

(1) under the age of 60 with good health, holding senior high school graduation diploma at least

(2) documents submission: resume, Beijing International Studies University Application Form, photocopy of the diploma (the original document is required to be submitted upon registration and for currently enrolled senior high school students, the enrollment certificate from the school is required), the transcript of school academic record,photocopy of HSK Level 3 above Certificate and passport and two pictures

(3) additional documents for advanced refresher program, the copies of undergraduate above diploma and academic record are required

(4) applicants who are learning in other Chinese universities should also provide:

  (i) a sealed transfer letter from the International Students Office of the university

  (ii) a copy of his/her visa in China and

  (iii) a recommendation letter from the class teacher

(5) application deadline: December 31 (spring semester); June 30 (autumn semester)

F. Application for Short-term Program

1. age from 18 to 50 with good health

2. Time: summer vacation annually (During the period, mid-course student is acceptable)

3. documents submission: resume, Beijing International Studies University Application Form, photocopy of passport and two pictures. 4. courses: Intensive Reading, Extensive Reading, Listening Comprehension, Video, Situation Dialogue, Writing and Composition, Grammar, Chinese Painting. 5. level: elementary, intermediary, advanced 6. classes arrangement: 20 teaching hours per week from Monday to Friday 8:00-12:00 during summer vacation. Free activities are available in the afternoons and weekends.

II. Matriculation:

Upon verification, Beijing International Studies University will send out Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202) and University Admission Notice' to the accepted students before January 31(spring) or July 31(autumn). Holders of the above-mentioned two documents and health examination certificate are supposed to apply for the Students Visa or Visit Visa at the nearest Chinese embassy or Chinese consulate.

III. Health Examination

The foreign students who will study over half a year should go through health examination before entering into China and submit standard health examination forms to the university (available at the embassy or the consulate), to be checked by Beijing Health Center to make sure all the items of the forms are complete, otherwise the students will take medical examination again at their own expense at Beijing Health Center. The students who applied for Students visa, but do not take physical examination prior to entering into China must take health examinations at Beijing Health Center at their own expense.

IV. Registration

Applicants are supposed to hold the original documents of 'Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202) and 'University Admission Notice and health examination certificate and 8 passport-size photos to go to Beijing International Studies University for registration formalities on the prescribed date. Applicants who failed to achieve it within 10 days will be disqualified the status.

Notes:

1. Tuition and boarding fees are due at registration. Students who don't pay within 10 days after registration without special excuses will pay 5% overdue fine.

2. Spring semester: March 1 to July 15; Autumn semester: September 1 to January 15 next year.

3. Boarding fees during winter and summer vacations will be charged separately.

4. Health examination fee in China will be self-supported.

5. When new students enroll, the university may go through the Residence Permit application formalities on them behalves, and the agent fee and formality fee should be submitted beforehand.

6. The application fee is nonrefundable. Tuition is also nonrefundable unless the University is held accountable for the withdrawal.

7. Beijing International Studies University reserves the right to make changes that affect the policies, fees, curricula, or any other matters.
